RULES AND PROGRAM

MAREMMA in GRAVEL is an event organized by the association A.S.D. MAREVETTAMARE, affiliated with UISP and CONI, and by GROSSETO GRAVEL.
It is a non-competitive cyclotourism event, in free excursion, which will take place on May 2nd-4th, 2025 in Grosseto, with start and finish at the Roselle Sports Center (GR).
Welcome kit pickup will take place:
Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Roselle Sports Center.
Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the Roselle Sports Center.
Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Roselle Sports Center.
Sunday, May 4th, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the Roselle Sports Center.

 

2. ROUTES

The planned routes are as follows:
SATURDAY, MAY 2nd | FAR WEST
Long: 130 km and 800 meters elevation gain
Medium: 100 km and 400 meters elevation gain
SUNDAY, MAY 5th | WILD SOUTH
Long: 100 km and 600 meters elevation gain
Short: 70 km and 400 meters elevation gain
The routes are loop trails on paths, dirt roads, and secondary paved roads, with start and finish in the same place.
Maps, mileage, total elevation gain, and elevation profile will be sent a few days before the weekend to all registered participants with:
The final .gpx tracks
Information on meeting point, parking, any changes in logistics and routes.
NOTE: The routes will NOT be marked.

 

3. Partecipation

Anyone who has reached the age of 18 at the time of registration and is in compliance with the possession of a competitive medical certificate for cycling and in possession of a membership to an ASD affiliated with the FCI or with an EPS is eligible to participate in MiG.
Those who only hold a valid competitive medical certificate with the wording "cycling" and obtain a daily membership card for insurance coverage can also participate. (cost €5)


4. REGISTRATION FEES

Possible registration options:
A) ALL INCLUSIVE
€95 for members until April 29th
€5 for NON-members on both fees.
The All Inclusive package includes:
2 nights at our Basecamp inside the Sports Center (sleeping mat and sleeping bag and also with your personal tent); including use of toilets and showers
2 days of riding
2 typical Maremma dinners (appetizer, first course, dessert)
4 tracks: Far West (Long, Medium); Wild South (Long, Short), in .gpx format
Bike technical assistance
3 refreshment points in the FAR WEST LONG, 2 in the MEDIUM
2 refreshment points in the WILD SOUTH LONG and 1 refreshment point in the SHORT
Entry to the MAREMMA PARK
Entry to the CASA ROSSA XIMENES MUSEUM
Welcome kit and bike number plate
B) 2 DAYS RIDE ONLY
€70 for members + €5 for NON-members
Package B) 2 days ride only includes:
4 tracks: Far West (Long, Medium); Wild South (Long, Short, in .gpx format
Welcome kit and bike number plate
Refreshments as described in package A
Entry to the MAREMMA PARK
Entry to the CASA ROSSA XIMENES MUSEUM
Use of toilets and showers at the Basecamp inside the Sports Center
C) 1 DAY RIDE ONLY
It is possible to participate in the single days of your choice between Saturday and Sunday.
The registration fee for the single days of MiG is:
€35 for members + €5 for NON-members
Package C) 1 day ride only includes:
Welcome kit and bike number plate
Refreshments as provided in letter A
Entry to the MAREMMA PARK on May 5th or CASA ROSSA XIMENES MUSEUM on May 4th
2 tracks of the chosen day in .gpx format
Use of toilets and showers at the Basecamp inside the Sports Center
ACCOMPANYING PERSONS can participate in dinners by paying €20 per dinner on site with a set menu provided. POSSIBILITY OF CAMPER STOP IN THE EVENT AREA.

Registration fees are non-refundable, cannot be transferred to another participant and cannot be frozen to another edition.
The event will take place in any weather condition.
In case of suspension due to weather alerts or emergencies of various kinds not dependent on the Organizer, the registration fees cannot be refunded. 

 


5. EVENT DEVELOPMENT

MiG is a cyclotourism event in free excursion on trails, dirt roads and secondary paved roads.
The routes will be open to traffic and therefore all participants are required to comply with the Highway Code.
Participation can take place with any type of bicycle, but the use of racing bikes is PROHIBITED.
The biker must know:
That the routes are not marked and will follow the track loaded on the device
That he is in free personal excursion and travels at his own risk and danger
That there is no mechanical assistance service by the organizers along the route, nor the service of recovery of those who have withdrawn and their vehicles
That there are no search obligations on the part of the organizers of the participants on the route, and that he undertakes to communicate his withdrawal to the organizer by calling or the telephone number indicated in the number plate.
The participant is aware that MAREVETTAMARE ASD is not a professional organizing body and does not act for merely playful and non-patrimonial purposes (1174 Cod.civ.); it follows therefore that the ASD is released from any liability connected to the conduct of the MiG and in particular from:
Accidents involving participants
Loss of the route by the participants
Injury of various kinds of participants
Any damage reported to the participants' bikes
Thefts occurring to the participants
The participant is obliged to carry with him, for the entire duration of his adventure, the following minimum safety equipment:
GPS device and/or smartphone with GPS functionality with sufficient charge reserve to complete the route  


Approved helmet to be worn at all times
White front lights and red rear lights
Kit for repairing breakdowns and punctures (inner tube and/or patches, tire levers, pump and/or cartridges for inflation)
Clothing appropriate to the season and weather
The MAREVETTAMARE ASD reserves the right to carry out random checks before departure regarding the minimum safety equipment.
Participants are also required to:
A physical preparation appropriate to the chosen route
A good knowledge of the use of GPS and orientation
To give help to anyone who is in difficulty along the way
To respect and keep clean the places crossed, avoiding throwing waste along the route and conferring them in the appropriate collection containers.
The MAREVETTAMARE ASD has signed a "LEAVE NO TRACE" manifesto that sensitizes bikers not to leave any kind of waste, organic and non-organic, behind them.

 


6. CONTROLS AND SAFETY

Participants are also required to notify the Organizer in case of abandonment of the Event and withdrawal from the route before arrival by contacting the staff through the numbers that will be indicated.
An ambulance will be available for medical assistance.
In the days leading up to the event, some information regarding the running of the event days, any security and any changes to the route will be sent by email and disseminated on social channels.

7. DISCLAIMER

By requesting to participate in MAREMMA in GRAVEL, each participant:
Declares to have read and approved this regulation and to accept each part of it
Declares to have taken note that it is a non-competitive event without rankings
Declares to be aware that, being part of the route off-road, some sections may be bumpy and require good driving technique and that, where necessary, the participant will overcome the difficult section at his own discretion by getting off the bicycle and proceeding on foot  


Declares to have experience in GPS navigation on off-road and/or unmarked routes
Declares to be aware that the route is not marked, not monitored and there are no safety stations and/or rescue personnel along the route
Declares to be aware of the possibility of encountering adverse weather conditions and be equipped in this regard
Declares not to resort to doping, drugs or medicinal substances that may alter performance or cause situations of damage or danger to himself or others;
